We are very pleased to welcome PhD candidates from other universities, in Italy or abroad, who wish to spend a research period within the PhD Programme in Pedagogical, Educational and Formative Sciences (SPEF) at the FISPPA Department, University of Padua.
The Visiting PhD Programme represents a valuable opportunity for scientific exchange and collaboration, fostering dialogue among early-career researchers, the sharing of research methodologies, and the joint development of projects and ideas.
Before planning the visit, it is important to consider a few organisational aspects that will help ensure the stay is well structured and consistent with the activities of the PhD Programme. Between November and December, interested PhD candidates are invited to identify a faculty member of the SPEF PhD Programme who can act as their host supervisor during the visit.
To propose the research stay, candidates should send an email to the selected professor, copying the PhD Coordinator, and attach a short concept paper describing the research they intend to carry out during the stay, a concise abstract of their doctoral project, and an updated list of their main publications.
If the professor expresses interest, they will contact the PhD Coordinator and the administrative offices to initiate the necessary procedures. At the beginning of the visit, the Visiting PhD Student will receive a dedicated link to be filled in, which will inform the Department about the student’s presence, the duration of the stay, and the main research focus.
During the visit, the student will have the opportunity to take part in the scientific and training activities of the PhD Programme, sharing experiences and perspectives with professors and researchers of the Department. At the end of the visit, the stay should ideally conclude with a research output associated with the visit — such as a draft article, a seminar or conference presentation, or a short joint research report — as a tangible outcome of the collaboration.
To start and manage the stay, the administrative procedure must be completed through the University’s official platform: Visiting PhD – Front Office (APEX).
